Guide to Neighborhoods
Many of the homeowners in the City of Toledo
experience frustration, anxiety and a sense of
helplessness because of neighborhood problems that are
not being addressed. The problems involve neighbors who
do not maintain their properties, mow their lawns,
repair their fences, vacant houses, drug dealers who are
congregating around vacant houses and a multitude of
other issues that need to be addressed in order to help
residents feel safe and secure in their neighborhoods.
In addition to the above, this guide also helps
citizens to understand the need to maintain and care for
their property, therefore, preventing dangerous
situations from occurring in the neighborhood.
The Housing & Environmental Court seeks to promote
and foster the development and continuation of healthy
neighborhoods in our city. Housing is not just about the
bricks and mortar, but it is also about families and
homes.
The social problems that complicate housing issues
are experienced daily in the Court and therefore, we are
continually attempting to educate the community about
housing issues. In that regard, the Court has developed
contacts and linkages between community development
organizations and other groups to clearly promote a
state of healthy housing situations in the City of
Toledo.
